The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy football team got its third win of the season Friday on the road.

The Saints had a well-rounded performance en route to defeating Norfolk Christian High School 47-26. Coach Mike Biehl called it one of the best team wins he has seen from his group.

“This was the best I felt after a win in a really long time,” Biehl said. “We had so many people making plays. We had a ton of contributions at all three phases. It was exactly what you wanted to see in a football game.”

George Pettaway led the way for the Saints with a big game on the ground. Pettaway rushed for 153 yards and added four touchdowns. Jaden Freeman led the receiving core with 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jeffrey Dailey had a strong day on the ground, rushing for 89 yards, 80 of them coming on one run in which he scored. On the offensive line, Biehl believes the Saints had their best performance of the season as a group. It was the highest output of points from this Saints team all season.

“I think our guys do a good job of understating the opportunity in front of them week to week,” Biehl said. “Those guys are able to put whatever happened the week before behind them and just get to work. Our offensive line play was special. They gave Ian time, and we were able to do some good things.”

Defensively, Kemauri Spencer had a strong game with two sacks to go along with an interception. Drew Bergeron added another multi-turnover game with two interceptions.

NSA goes to 3-5 on the season and has a strong chance of finishing the season with a .500 record. The Saints will host Fredericksburg Christian Academy this Friday, and it will also be senior night for the Saints. They still can make a late playoff push, and with the quality of opponents the Saints have left on their schedule, it is very possible that they can.
