Woman arrested in assault case

A second woman has been arrested in an investigation into an assault that took place on Aug. 31.
Danielle Yvonne Renea McLean, 23, of Portsmouth, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault or battery by mob, disorderly conduct, participate in unlawful assembly, conspiracy to incite riot, contributing to delinquency of a minor and riot.
Jayla Monae Holmes, 18, of Suffolk, was arrested Monday in connection with the same investigation.
The incident was reported about 2:44 p.m. Aug. 31 from the 6100 block of Brookwood Drive in the College Square neighborhood, according to a city press release.
A woman said she and her granddaughter were assault by several females while in their vehicle at that location.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed, the press release stated.
