Dr. David “Jared” Kobulnicky, medical oncologist, joined Virginia Oncology Associates on July 22.
Dr. Kobulnicky says he chose to join the practice because of VOA’s high standards for patient care. “One of the things that really drew me there is that I thought the practice partners had a commitment to going above and beyond what would be the standard for community-based cancer care,” Kobulnicky said.
His research has been presented at the American Society of Hematology and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Kobulnicky’s work has been published in “Leukemia and Lymphoma,” “Frontiers in Immunology” and “Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.” He was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and has received his institution’s Scholar’s Award for his clinical and research accomplishments. Kobulnicky was also awarded the Arthur P. Gold Award for his humanistic and compassionate care.
Dr. Kobulnicky’s expertise includes treating blood cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, lung cancer and brain cancer, but he also lists patient care as a passion. “I am looking to provide the greatest degree of responsibility and involvement that I can in the care of cancer patients. I don’t view this as a job. I view this, apart from being a dad and a husband, as a life mission and goal,” Kobulnicky said.
He is also interested in immunotherapy and ongoing cancer research. He will be based in the Newport News and Hampton offices.
