Garry Julius Jahn

Garry Julius Jahn, 73, passed away July 26, 2019. He was born in Marshall, Minn., the son of the late Marvin Henry Jahn and Gertrude Mildred Schenk Vanderwerf. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Jahn. Garry retired as a chief legalman from the U.S. Navy, having served during Vietnam. He later went on to work as a deputy sheriff and a magistrate, recently retiring from the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
Garry is survived by his children and their spouses, Jeff Jahn (Lisa), Jodie Gage (Greg), Taylor Lawson; grandchildren, Scott, Danielle, Cecelia and Garry Gage, Coria and Seren Jahn; great-grandchild, Nathan Gage; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Fonken (Loumere); brother and sister-in-law, Bruce Jahn (Patti); and special friends, Rosalee Yarborough and Jamie Van Dyk.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Tim Rawls officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
