Specialists for Women recently moved and expanded to an office about three times the size of its former location. The practice celebrated the move with a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday.
The practice is owned by Dr. Benigno Federici. It has about 30 employees, including one other doctor, two women’s health nurse practitioners and two certified nurse midwives who are also nurse practitioners.
Federici said he was pleased to make the move because the new 12,000-square-foot office gives more room for patients and more room to do in-office procedures.
The practice offers obstetrics and gynecology, infertility treatment, minimally invasive surgery, urogynecology and more.
Federici has been in Suffolk since 1997 and had his office at Obici Hospital since 2002.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity that Suffolk has given to me, my family and my staff,” said Federici, whose wife, Dr. Jana Boyd Federici, also has her own practice in dentistry. “I’m just humbled and blessed to serve the patients of Suffolk. I have no desire to go anywhere else.”
Federici gave credit to his staff at the ribbon-cutting. “I couldn’t do it without any one of you,” he said. “It’s humbling to think I need this many people just to keep the whole organization going.”
Mayor Linda T. Johnson spoke just before helping cut the ribbon on Wednesday.
“We are so excited to have you expand,” she said. “The city is committed to our businesses to watch you grow and watch you succeed. We’re just so proud to have your practice in our city.”
Councilman Mike Duman also spoke during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Thank you for offering health care options,” Duman said. “I wish you much success.”
Specialists for Women is now located at 2050 Hillpoint Blvd. N., and it is accepting new patients. The practice also has a Harbour view location at 5833 Harbour View Blvd., Suite C. Call 539-3911.
