The early days of military aviation in Hampton Roads will be the focus of an informative presentation that will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips-Dawson House, 137 Bank St.

This presentation is the latest in a series of “Afternoon Conversations.” This partnership between Suffolk Public Library and the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society allows for discussions on regional history and other local topics of interest.

The speaker on Wednesday will be Skip Johnson of the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach.

Johnson’s presentation will dive back into the early 20th century to discuss the beginnings of Naval Station Norfolk, Langley Air Force Base in Hampton and Curtiss Flying School of Newport News — one of the top flying schools in America, Johnson said in a phone interview — and other facets of this chapter of military history.

He will also touch on famous aviators that were involved in this period of Hampton Roads history.
