Everlina E. Riddick

Everlina E. Riddick, 92, of 314 Boat St., Suffolk, died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Frank and Henrietta Everett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Riddick Sr.; one daughter, Mary Virginia Lawrence; and one son, Willie Lee Riddick Sr.

She was a longtime member of Little Mount Zion Baptist Church and a former missionary. In recent years, she attended St. Mark’s A.M.E. Zion Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Ophelia Riddick, of Suffolk, Evelyn Jones, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Beatrice Staton, of Sunbury, N.C.; four sons, Frank Riddick Jr., Joshua Lee Riddick, Redell Riddick and Charles Edward Riddick, all of Suffolk; 29 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Scott, of Baltimore, Md., Mary Holiday, of Franklin, Va., and Leola Mullen, of Suffolk; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church, officiated by Evangelist Willie L. Riddick Jr. The Rev. Roland Brown is pastor. Interment will be in Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Ophelia Riddick, 111 Day St., Suffolk. The family will also assemble at the home of Frank Riddick Jr., 420 Kings Fork Road, at 11 a.m. Thursday for the procession to the church. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
