Carrollton Elementary School recently celebrated Kindness Week with kindness grams, a coloring contest and a classroom kindness challenge, among other activities.
School counselor Marie Berkeley said the students were excited for all of the activities during the week, which included a spirit day with the theme “Kind Hearts are Happy Hearts.”
The Cardinals CARE Club sold kindness grams as their annual fundraiser. Each kindness gram cost 50 cents and included a kind, handwritten message with an emoji button attached. There were 849 kindness grams delivered to students on Valentine’s Day.
“That is a lot of kindness,” Berkeley said.
Classes also had two class kindness ambassadors that were responsible for being the “class kindness cheerleaders,” Berkeley said, and taking pictures of their classmates doing kind acts. There were a total of 659 photos of kind acts taken throughout the week, Berkeley said.
Mrs. Rigau’s second-grade class won, with 151 pictures taken by her students. Her class won an ice cream party. Mrs. Everett’s second-grade class came in second place with 132 pictures.
Mrs. Hundley’s kindergarten class, Mrs. Freitag’s first-grade class, Mrs. Rigau’s second-grade class and Mrs. Chappell’s third-grade class were the grade-level winners.
