Former Lady Bulldogs basketball standout Khadedra Croker recently earned her first Defensive Player of the Week recognition for the 2018-2019 season.
Croker blocked nine shots in two games, helping the Norfolk State University Spartans start off as 2-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Against Delaware State University, she blocked three shots and then added six blocked shots against Florida A&M. Since last season, she has six games with six or more blocked shots.
She has amassed 116 blocks in 39 career games with NSU, which places her third all-time in the program’s history. Back in December, Croker eclipsed 100 career blocks for NSU and has since added onto that. She is the sixth player in NSU history to reach 100 blocks.
With conference play just starting, she has a chance to add even more blocks as well as more MEAC Defensive Player of the Week awards. Last season, she recorded the single-season record for blocks in a season with 93. She ranked first in the MEAC and third in Division I with 3.4 blocks per game and also topped the conference in blocks.
With the MEAC award she earned this week, it brings her total to seven after getting the award six times last year. At King’s Fork High School, she topped 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds and added more than 900 career blocks.
