Suffolk Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Wednesday, the third shooting in a week’s time.
The shooting was reported in the 100 block of Wellons Street about 12:30 a.m., according to a city press release. Officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was transported to an area hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
No additional details on Wednesday’s shooting were available for release.
The shooting follows other incidents early Sunday morning in the 300 block of Spruce Street and last Wednesday morning in the 200 block of Columbus Avenue.
The victim in the Columbus Avenue shooting was identified as 54-year-old Haskel Wilbert Wilson Jr., who was hospitalized in serious condition following the shooting.
The injuries in Sunday’s shooting were deemed non-life-threatening.
City spokesman Tim Kelley said Wednesday there have been no arrests in any of the shootings, and there is no reason to believe they are related.
