The Lady Warriors field hockey team advanced to the Class 5 Region A semifinals with a 1-0 win Thursday evening.

The Nansemond River High School field hockey team continues to roll. They got a 1-0 regional quarterfinals win over Hickory High School. It was the second time these two teams met in a week. In the last matchup, Nansemond River won 2-1.

Allie Fischer scored on a stroke with 12:16 remaining in the game to put the Lady Warriors up 1-0.

“It was the most amazing win of the season so far, for sure,” Fischer said. “We had finally overcome some past obstacles, and we had put it all on the field. We weren’t ready for this game to end our season, so we were definitely crying from happiness.”

Next, Nansemond River will face Gloucester High School Tuesday.
