Homearama kicks off

The Creeks of Nansemond was busy with people on Friday for the first afternoon of Homearama 2018.

Patrons had the chance to look around seven different homes from six different builders. While none of the homes are on the water, the residences are just a stone’s throw away from Star Creek.

The new additions to the neighborhood range in price from $470,000 to $750,000, but most people were looking for inspiration to bring back to their own homes. Some even looked to find inspiration for homes that they planned on building in the future.

Cory and Tiffany Johnson recently purchased a house in Suffolk, and they jumped at the opportunity to see new innovations.

“We just bought a new home, and we came for some ideas,” Tiffany said. “We are looking at a little bit of everything.”

The couple looked at everything like curtains, bedspreads and color schemes.

The homes featured neutral color schemes and open concepts, and everyone was impressed with the walk-in closets.

“We do this every year, and we look for decorating ideas,” said Jackie Jelani.

Jelani and Robin Vaughn made their way through the seven houses and found themselves wishing for more color, which they found on a teal couch on the second floor of the “Sydney Dianne” from Breland Builders.

All the houses were for sale, but every house had signs reminding patrons that even the furniture was for sale. Guests could choose to purchase everything from tables to place settings to bedspreads.

The show will take place Friday through Sunday on three weekends: Oct. 19-21, Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4.

The show will be open from noon to 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, with the exception of Nov. 4, when it will close at 5 p.m.

To get to the show, use 4032 Evan Circle in your navigation system.

Tickets can be purchased at the event for $10, and children 12 and under are free. More information can be found online at homearama.tv.
