Suffolk native Brandon Lowe let his bat rip over the weekend for his sixth major-league homer this season.
In a game against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, Lowe, a Nansemond River High School graduate, hit a two-run homer. The home run came in the bottom of the eighth inning with Lowe and the Tampa Bay Rays up 3-0.
It was his sixth home run of the season in the majors. He has now appeared in 37 games for the Tampa Bay Rays. In those 37 games, he has had 106 plate appearances to go with 16 runs, 24 hits, 21 RBIs and six home runs.
With just a few games left in the season, Lowe has looked to make good use of his time in the majors. Spectators believe he has a chance to be a consistent full-time contributor for the Rays.
