Lightning postponed Friday night’s game between the Saints and Barons, so they will duke it out on Labor Day.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy was unable to play its second game of the season Friday night. Game time was set for 7 p.m., but if the game didn’t within a 90-minute time frame, the game could not be played. Ninety minutes came and went, and even though the lightning cleared up, the game was unable to be played.

Blue Ridge had traveled more than three hours for the game and will do so again on Monday, when the two teams make up the game at 5:30 p.m. Coach Mike Biehl laid out all scenarios for his team for its upcoming tough week.

“I let the guys know that making the Blue Ridge game up would be something that was good for us,” Biehl said. “We want to have as many opportunities as possible to qualify for the playoffs. We will prep one more time for Blue Ridge, and that’s where we want our focus at right now.”

Biehl credited his team for doing a good job of being focused Friday night, even though they didn’t actually play. Now, the Saints will have to be mentally and physically prepared for next week, with games set for Monday and Friday. Biehl is confident that he and his staff will find a way for the Saints to be best prepared for next week.

“We are going to have to shift our focus after the game Monday quickly,” Biehl said. “I like the time restraints and things that come with it, because we have no time to waste. You’re up against, and that’s when I feel like we work best. We have all the excuses in the world we can use, or we can find a way to go out and get it done.”

NSA will host Blue Ridge at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
