The Lakeland High School field hockey team finished its first week 0-2.

The Lady Cavs opened the season with two close losses. They hosted Tabb High School last Monday and battled with them to a 2-1 loss. Wednesday, they hosted a tough Hickory High School team and lost 2-1 as well.

The season is still very young, and the Lady Cavs still have a competitive team this season. With Cortney Parker no longer at the helm, Lakeland is being led by Jamee Albright this season. Albright played for Lakeland during her high school years.

“I’m feeling really good about these group of girls,” Albright said. “We have a strong group of seniors leading, and everyone has been working hard.”

The Lady Cavs have been very welcoming of Albright and are excited about how far they can go this season. Allison Thompson, Ashton Moore, Sydney Beale and Sarah Stansick return as primary contributors for the Lady Cavs this season.

This week, Lakeland will face Deep Creek High School on the road at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
