Police investigate crash involving pedestrian

The Suffolk Police Department is investigating an accident involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian.

The accident was reported at 7:47 p.m., according to a city press release. Preliminary investigation found that the 80-year-old man was struck by a Honda Accord in the 100 block of East Washington Street. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The victim was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, the release stated.

The 100 block of East Washington Street was closed from North Main Street to Commerce Street during the investigation.
