Suffolk police have secured petitions against a juvenile after an attempted carjacking that happened Saturday evening.
The incident was reported about 6:23 p.m. at the Raceway in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, according to a city press release.
The victim, a 77-year-old male, reported he was putting gas in his vehicle and was about to get back inside when he was assaulted by two individuals believed to be juveniles, according to the release. The man was able to resist the offenders’ attempt to take his vehicle and suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening during the incident.
Following an investigation, petitions are on file along with a detention order against a 14-year-old male, the city press release stated. Charges include conspiracy to commit carjacking, carjacking and grand theft auto, some of which are related to another incident.
Due to the age of the offender, his name will not be released.
