Unexploded ordnance recovered

An unexploded ordnance was recovered by U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal technicians in the 6900 block of Armstead Road Wednesday morning.
Around noon, the city released a statement saying U.S. Navy EOD personnel have secured the ordinance and Armstead Road will reopen shortly.
Emergency dispatchers were notified at 10:16 a.m. when a crew working in the area discovered a shell that was identified as the ordnance, according to a city press release.
The area was secured and they closed Armstead Road while U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel were on their way to remove the item.
