Ashley Bido scored both of the Lady Bulldogs’ goals to help them advance to the second round of regional play.

The King’s Fork High School girls’ soccer team hosted Lafayette High School Friday afternoon and defeated them 2-0. King’s Fork changed up its defensive lineup by starting three freshmen and a sophomore while also moving one of its captains to striker. That helped the attack get going for the Lady Bulldogs, which kept the pressure on Lafayette’s defense.

“I thought that was a big difference maker for us,” Lady Bulldogs Coach Matt Crowder said. “As far as possession is concerned, that is one of the better of the games we had this season. It was a good game.”

All teams want to be playing their best soccer at this moment, so it was refreshing to Crowder to see his team do the things they did Friday. Throughout the season, King’s Fork has had some good halves of soccer but been unable to put together full games. However, King’s Fork felt like they were able to put together a complete game against Lafayette Friday.

Since the last week of the regular season, Crowder has felt good about what he has seen from his team. They feel they have the tools to be successful in the postseason.

“We have some good leadership this season,” he said. “I think our younger players on the team are starting to put together some really good games, and I think because we are working hard as a team, that’s where our success is coming from.”

King’s Fork is likely set to take on Jamestown High School on Tuesday on the road. Jamestown is the No. 1 seed in the region, while King’s Fork holds the No. 4 seed.
