In what has become a common theme in this space, some local adults came together to do something good for local schoolchildren for no other reason than to make a difference in the kids’ lives.

Elephant’s Fork Elementary School recently got about $800 worth of new toys for its playground thanks to the generosity of local churches, Walmart and the Sheriff’s Office.

Students at Elephant’s Fork will now be able to enjoy things like hula hoops, ride-on cars, bowling sets, playground balls and more.

The Sheriff’s Office is a Partner-In-Education with Elephant’s Fork and regularly looks for opportunities to help the students. Sheriff E.C. Harris said he saw a need for the toys for the Early Start program.

The generosity of the Sheriff’s Office to Elephant’s Fork Elementary School cannot be understated. They come multiple times a year to drop off needs and encouragement to the students and staff.

“These connections they are making are amazing,” Assistant Principal Garrick Rhodes said. “They donate multiple times a year, and that is wonderful.”

This community works best when everyone works together. When folks see a need and figure out a way to meet it, especially with others’ help, there’s no limit to what can be done.
