Lady Saints advance to state semis

The Lady Saints softball team advanced to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state semifinal with a 13-0 home win over Seton School Tuesday afternoon.
NSA didn’t waste any time with its matchup against Seton. They scored 11 of their 13 runs in the first three innings. Jessica Chang got things started in the first when she hit a solo home run, and from there they continued to pile it on.
Chang ended up going 2-3 with three runs and two RBIs and a triple. Madi Wilson went 2-4 with a run and three RBIs. Reese Byrd, Dani Goodman and Karley Wetmore each had a double for the Lady Saints.
Byrd pitched and allowed only one hit in five innings.
NSA will face Isle of Wight Academy for the third time this season with a chance to get to the state championship. In the first two meetings, NSA won the first by a score of 2-0 and the second by a score of 2-1. The game will be played at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Dinwiddie Sportsplex. If NSA wins, the team will play for a state title at 3 p.m. Friday at Dinwiddie Sportsplex.
