I know I’ve got to get flashlights, water and dried-up food. I’ve got to get to shelter for when the storm hits. Gotta get through this weather.

Jeffrey Burgess, Suffolk

From the previous hurricanes hitting our country, I get real concerned because I know what it feels like to not have a place to go when you need to evacuate. The best way to prepare is to make sure you have food, keep your important belongings safe and make sure your family is good.

I’m not very concerned. On a scale of one to 10, I’m maybe a one, because I’ve got a working vehicle and if it gets really bad we can just leave. I’ve got insurance on my house and the vehicle, too.

James Anderson, Virginia Beach

I’m not that concerned. We don’t have a written-out emergency plan, but we have plenty of people within a few hours’ drive that we can stay with, and we are 16 feet above sea level, so our house should be fine.
