King’s Fork High School senior Lydia Goolsby has committed to play college basketball at Goldey-Beacom College.

She is the third Lady Bulldog this year set to play college basketball, joining Camary Harris and Adrianna Copeland.

Her recruiting process was up and down as it usually is for student-athletes. She started to garner a lot of interest on the AAU circuit before her senior season. As time progressed, it started to slow down, and then it picked up again after her season.

“I was just ready for I to be over,” Goolsby said. “Some of the schools made the process longer than what it needed to be. That’s why I liked Goldey-Beacom. They showed me they wanted me and didn’t waste time.”

Belmont-Abbey College and Barton College were both in the running before Goolsby finally decided on GBC.

“I loved the area and the school,” she said. “I also love the style of coaching, and the school just felt like home away from home.”

Her family played a big role in helping her sort out her options and letting her pick the best place for her. Though GBC is out of state, she didn’t mind not being close to home. GBC staff see her as the type of player who can play inside and out for them. Defensively, they can run more presses with her because of her athleticism.

The Lady Bulldogs’ season ended in March with a final four state finish. Goolsby personally felt like she could have been more consistent for her team throughout the season but was happy to help the team have a fighting chance at getting to another state championship.

Goolsby was an honorable mention for the all-district team this season.
