A man who police say robbed a West Constance Road convenience store in February was indicted by the grand jury this week.

Jessie Daniel Blount, 42, was indicted on charges of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was among 31 defendants indicted on 89 charges.

Police accuse Blount of robbing the Southern Food Store in the 800 block of West Constance Road on Feb. 17 just after 10 p.m. According to police at the time, he took a bottle of Smirnoff alcohol and placed it on the counter. He then went behind the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, police said. When she refused to open the register, he allegedly grabbed the bottle and fled the store.

In addition, a man accused of shooting his father in his sleep was indicted by the grand jury. Morris Rashawn Newsome, 23, is charged with shooting his father multiple times on Aug. 12.
