A Suffolk man was sentenced earlier this month to 13.5 years in prison for multiple sexual assaults on a girl who was 12 to 14 years old at the time of the offenses.
Dawayne Antron Perry was found guilty last June of three counts of carnal knowledge of a minor. Several other charges were not prosecuted as part of a plea agreement.
Perry was a friend of the girl’s family, according to a statement of facts filed in Suffolk Circuit Court. The first assault was on Feb. 5, 2012, when the girl was 12 years old.
During the 2012-2013 school year, Perry went on to assault the girl several more times at her home, according to the court document. In 2014, there was at least one assault that took place at the Red Carpet Inn after the man asked the girl to come with him to get something to eat at McDonald’s, the document stated.
At least two other minors witnessed the man groping the girl and performing various sexual acts with her, the court document stated.
Perry was also convicted of carnal knowledge of a minor in 2008. In 2010, he was sentenced to two years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.
Upon release from his most recent sentence, he will be on supervised probation for the rest of his life.
