Marjorie P. Joyner Wilkinson passed on to her heavenly reward on April 17, 2018. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Selma and Elmer Proctor Sr., of Hertford, N.C., and also by her husbands, N.M. “Jack” Joyner and W.W. “Bill” Wilkinson. She was also predeceased by siblings Vance Proctor and E.J. Proctor Jr.
She is survived by her son, Vance (Jane) Joyner, of Richmond; grandson, Jon (Shelley) Joyner, of Suffolk, as well as great-grandson, Jayce. Surviving are step-grandsons, Lucius and John Cyrus.
She is also survived by brothers Willis (Janie) Proctor, of Edenton, N.C., Gene (Loretta) Proctor, of Upper Marlboro, Md., and sister Lina (Preston) Morgan, of Hertford, N.C. She also leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was a graduate of the first Licensed Practical Nurse class at Louise Obici Memorial Nursing School. She spent many years as a private duty nurse and later as a doctor’s office nurse.
Marjorie enjoyed time with her family, playing a joke and being the life of the party. Until her later years, she loved to travel. She was a very active member of the Suffolk Women’s Club.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday April 23, 2018, at Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434 officiated by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. There will be a reception following the service at the church. The burial will be conducted following the reception at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 is serving the family.
