Suffolk firefighters were on the scene of a two-alarm fire Tuesday evening.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to the call at a home in the 5900 block of Bennetts Creek Lane. The fire was reported at 10:35 p.m., and the first units arrived at 10:41 p.m., according to a city press release.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing from the roof of the two-story home, the press release stated. The occupants had evacuated prior to firefighters’ arrival.
Crews began to attack the fire inside the home but then had to pull out for a defensive attack.
Two adults will be displaced, and there have been no injuries, the press release stated. The Fire Marshal will investigate.
Mutual aid is being provided by the Chuckatuck and Carrollton volunteer fire departments. The Chesapeake Fire Department has provided an engine to backfill Station 5.
