A beautiful village

To the editor:
Chuckatuck and the surrounding area is truly one beautiful village that pulls together whenever there is a need.
Recently, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Whitehead’s Grove Baptist Church, Diamond Grove Baptist Church, Driver’s Glebe Episcopal Church, Boy Scouts from Troops 25, 7, 36, 16 and 73, along with Oakland Christian United Church of Christ, all pulled together to house a CAPS Night Stay week from February 28 – March 7 at Oakland Christian United Church of Christ.
More than 100 different volunteers helped set up and take down space for lodging, dining and recreation, transport guests to and from the Suffolk Train Station, prepare warm breakfasts and dinners, prepare bag lunches and man all shifts from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The effort was Herculean and could not have been done alone by any of the groups mentioned.
Living in a community where folks are willing to give of their time, talent and treasure to help others is a blessing in itself. We are proud to be members of such a community. Many thanks to all.
