Nansemond River High School’s baseball team shut out Oscar Smith High School at home Friday night.
Gage Williams allowed only two hits while striking out 12 batters in his pitching duties for the Warriors Friday evening.
An error in the second inning got the Warriors on the board with their first run. A big sixth inning for the Warriors extended their margin of victory.
Jarrett Mayer and Bryson Dansberry each had two runs for Nansemond River. Dansberry, Mayer, Cameron Pittman and Matt Culbert each stole bases, as the team totaled seven.
“I felt amazing out there,” Williams said. “The team had a solid defense behind me. Our offense took a huge leap from last game.”
They will go on the road to face Great Bridge High School at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
