Wallace L. Rountree

Wallace “Pete” L. Rountree was born on July 10, 1935 in Nansemond County to the late Anna Faulk Rountree and Murphy Rountree.

Pete He was employed at S.L. Hines Service Station for 20-plus years, then he worked at Lipton Tea — now Unilever — for more than 20 years. He owned his own business, W.L. Rountree Heating Oil Service, while working his two jobs for more than 30 years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mamie Beamon Rountree.

Pete leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Sonja Rountree Stevenson (Andre Sr.); grandson, Andre C. Stevenson Jr. (Tamea A. Stevenson); sisters, Evelyn Faulk, Jean Richardson and Eva Baker, and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m., and the family will greet visitors from 6 to 7 p.m., today, Friday, at the funeral home. A funeral will take place at noon Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church, and he will be entombed at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
