In a game that came down to the wire, the Lady Bulldogs took a 48-46 loss to Lake Taylor High School on Friday.
King’s Fork High School and Lake Taylor battled it out at King’s Fork for the Class 4 Region A championship. The Lady Bulldogs had a lead, albeit a short one, throughout the first half. They pushed their lead to as many as eight points, but a run by Lake Taylor in the third quarter closed the gap and helped them take the lead.
Lake Taylor had an eight-point lead of their own in the fourth quarter before King’s Fork got back within reach. With the score 46-44 with a few seconds left, the Lady Bulldogs had a chance to tie the game with a Nylah Young shot, but it was no good. Because the ball went out of bounds on the attempt, they had a chance at another shot to win or tie the game. Brianna Copeland got the look, but it didn’t go down. Young led the team with 17 points.
The Lady Bulldogs finish as the regional runners-up but will still have a bid in the Class 4 state tournament. They will go on the road this week and face the Class 4 Region B champion.
