After another strong season from the Lady Bulldogs, they will go into regionals with the top seed.

The King’s Fork High School girls’ basketball team earned itself another Southeastern District championship this season. To go along with a district championship, the Lady Bulldogs are also the No. 1 seed in Class 4 Region A tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs are regarded as one of the top girls’ basketball teams in the area and throughout the state. Losing in the Class 4 state championship last year on a controversial call after a buzzer-beater has left a bitter taste in the team’s mouth, and now it can officially start its postseason redemption tour.

Lady Bulldogs coach Maurice Fofana likes where his team stands at the moment.

“I think we are peaking at the right moment,” he said. “We have done some good things, and I like where we are right now. I feel like we have a very good team and if we want to be successful, we can’t beat ourselves. Sometimes we can be our biggest enemy.”

With the No. 1, the Lady Bulldogs will have home-court advantage for as long as they are in the regional playoffs. Fofana believes it’s a credit to his team’s hard work.

“To be able to have homecourt is great,” Fofana said. “We can be home, where teams often play well.”

Senior Camary Harris and junior Nylah Young will be looking to lead the way for the Lady Bulldogs. They have a good core, with Neecole Brown and Adrianna Copeland along with others with postseason experience, that will help the Lady Bulldogs be successful this season.

“I feel like we are in a really good spot,” Young said. “We just have to continue to work hard so we contain that No. 1 seed. I feel we can do it. If we continue to play hard defense and play team basketball, we will definitely be successful.”

King’s Fork will face Great Bridge High School at home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after Great Bridge won their play-in game Friday.
