Online payments to the city treasurer’s office are unavailable through Jan. 2 as a result of a software conversion.

The city will convert to a new tax revenue software system, PCI’s myRevenueSystem, on Jan. 3. Treasurer Ronald H. Williams said on Wednesday that the project has been ongoing for seven years.

The new system will improve efficiency, according to a city press release. It is mobile-friendly, web-based, uses less paper and operates faster than the older system the city was using, according to the press release.

Employees will have the ability to re-print bills for customers and combine different revenue transactions into a single payment.

The online portal will offer the ability for citizens to view and print a personal property or real estate tax bill and to print receipts. E-checks will now be accepted for a flat fee of $1.50, and credit and debit card transactions will continue to be accepted.

In preparation for the software implementation, online payments are not available through Jan. 2. Payments will still be accepted in the treasurer’s offices at City Hall, 442 W. Washington St., or the satellite office located inside the North Suffolk Library, 2000 Bennetts Creek Park Road; by mail; or through the drop box located in the parking lot of City Hall.
