King’s Fork blows out Jamestown

As the No. 1 seed in the 4A Region, King’s Fork High School took care of business with a blowout home win.
The 70-7 score in the Bulldogs’ first-round playoff win was a season high and among the highest point totals in school history. King’s Fork also got its first playoff win under the direction of coach Scottie Littles. Darran Butts had another impressive night for the Bulldogs with 254 yards rushing and four touchdowns. What was even more impressive about Butts’ night was that he did it on 11 carries. The Bulldogs had a 42-0 lead at halftime.
“The kids played hard out. There they made it about us,” Littles said. “We always tell the kids it is not about who we are playing; it is about us. We did some things well, and we did some things we could do better on. We are going to look at the film and get it corrected for next week.”
Justin German had another efficient night completing 11 of 16 passes for 270 yards and five touchdowns. Bobby Boone, Chris Shearin, Sam Dunn, Cherrod Joe and Butts were all recipients of German’s touchdown passes.
The Bulldogs did not allow much of anything against Jamestown on defense. The Eagles’ lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter, with the game already out of hand. Bryan Walker had two interceptions for the Bulldogs, with one going for a touchdown.
Littles let his team know shortly after the win against Oscar Smith High School that the moment was over and done. The Bulldogs have set goals for themselves that they still want to accomplish. They don’t want to just be known for beating Oscar Smith. They have bigger goals in mind — like a Class 4 state championship.
“Our kids did a good job compartmentalizing their emotion from the Oscar Smith game and moving forward. We are going to have to do the same thing with this win and move forward as well.”
The Bulldogs do not want to be satisfied with what they were able to do against Jamestown. The road doesn’t get any easier from here on out. At the end of the day, the Bulldogs want to continue to look at themselves and get better.
King’s Fork will now play host to Smithfield High School for their next round matchup.
“Smithfield is a very good team, they have a good quarterback, and they are well coached,” Littles said.
