Police make arrests in Lennon homicide

Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with the June 23 murder of a Nansemond-Suffolk Academy graduate in Raleigh, N.C.
Anthony Domonique Lennon, 24, a 2011 graduate of NSA, was shot in the parking lot of a Bahama Breeze restaurant in Raleigh. He played at quarterback, safety and punt returner for the Saints and went on to play football from 2011 to 2015 at East Carolina University.
Wantavius Burney Jackson and Clifton Jason Spellman III, both 25, are charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Lennon’s death, according to a press release from the Raleigh Police Department.
In addition, Stephanie Chayanne Owens, 19, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Lennon was pronounced dead at the scene following the shooting, which happened about 9:45 p.m. June 23 in the 3300 block of Wake Forest Road.
The shooting happened in the restaurant’s parking lot in a commercial area. Other people were in the area at the time of the shooting, although no other injuries were reported.
