• Community Church is accepting relief items at several Suffolk locations. Donations can be made at Uncork’d on West Washington Street, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s campus on Pruden Boulevard and during church services at King’s Fork High School from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church will have a collection tent at King’s Fork High School’s home football game against Western Branch this Friday at 7 p.m. Church volunteers will travel to Houston with donations this Saturday. • Jersey Mike’s Subs is partnering with the Houston Food Bank and Corpus Christi Food Bank for relief efforts. Participating locations will donate $1 for every regular sized No. 7 Turkey Breast and Provolone sub sold from Sept. 11-17. Additionally, participating locations will distribute cards that grant a free sub for a $2 donation to the food banks. These can be redeemed from Sept. 15 through Dec. 1. • Lake Prince Woods retirement community in Suffolk will have a bake sale this Friday from noon to 4 p.m. Cookies, cakes, pies, breads and other contributions should be presented by 11 a.m., with ingredient information for allergy purposes. One hundred percent of proceeds will support the LeadingAge Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund for Texas seniors. All unsold baked goods will go to the Genieve Shelter for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, said Denise Brown, resident services director at Lake Prince Woods.
