The 4500 block of Nansemond Parkway will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday due to an earlier crash involving a large construction crane.

The crash happened at 11:11 a.m., when the crane left the roadway and landed on its side in a ditch, according to a city press release.

The closure is needed to bring in another crane to remove the crane in the ditch, the press release stated.

Traffic will be detoured along Shoulders Hill and Bennetts Pasture roads for several hours.
