Old School Classic set for today

Lakeland High School will host its annual Old School Classic featuring Suffolk alumni today.
Alumni of Suffolk high schools and fans will come together today for the annual Old School Classic. A donation of $5 will be appreciated, and all proceeds will go to the Lakeland boys’ basketball program.
There will be four games this year, including the event’s first female exhibition game. People inquired about a female game last year, Cavs coach Clint Wright Sr. said. He was able to get someone on the committee this year to coordinate the game. Twelve ladies will compete.
“It’s always good to see people I played with and opponents I played against,” Wright said. “The ultimate goal is to have some fun and do some things you haven’t done in a while.”
The turnout and level of play in previous OSC games have been good, Wright said. The community looks forward to this event each year.
“We have some marquee games people want to see,” Wright said. “This has been a tremendous event for the enthusiast. A lot of people haven’t seen us play in a while and are excited to see everyone play again.”
Admission is $5 and free for those 12 and under.
