Two charged in burglaries

Police have charged two Suffolk residents with multiple crimes related to a rash of commercial burglaries in which the pair is suspected.

Tyreese D’Andrae Darden, 25, and Lauren Raven Outland, 24, also could be suspects in other burglaries throughout the Hampton Roads area, according to a city press release.

Police allegedly caught the two while responding to an alarm early Thursday morning at the Advance Auto Parts in the 1500 block of North Main Street.

Emergency operators received the commercial alarm, and officers arrived at the scene at 2:28 a.m. to find the alarm still sounding and the rear door of the business unsecured. One of the officers saw a vehicle trying to avoid their cruiser and attempted to stop the vehicle.

“The driver refused to stop,” the press release stated. “After a short, slow pursuit, the vehicle pulled into a parking lot in the 800 block of North Main Street, and the passenger fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later.”

The female driver and male passenger were taken into custody and questioned, the press release stated.

Darden and Outland are charged in relation to the following burglaries:

  • Kings Fork Diesel Truck Service, 3600 block of Pruden Boulevard, July 21
  • River Stone Chophouse, 800 block of Harbour View Boulevard, July 24
  • Vintage Tavern, 1900 block of Governors Pointe Drive, July 24
  • Saunders Supply Company, 5800 block of Godwin Boulevard, July 28
  • Brinkley’s Wrecker Service, 100 block of Dill Road, July 31
  • Derl’z Restaurant & Pub, 400 block of East Pinner Street, July 31
  • M&R Seafood, 800 block of West Constance Road, Aug. 1
  • Tidewater Wholesalers, 700 block of West Constance Road, Aug. 1
  • Advance Auto Parts, 1500 block of North Main Street, Aug. 3

The investigations remain ongoing, and a total number of charges will be forthcoming, the press release stated.

“Suffolk Police are also currently working with investigators from other Hampton Roads police departments regarding similar incidents that occurred within their jurisdictions,” the press release stated.

Both suspects were being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
