Carson Endodontics — Root Canal Specialists, opened its doors in the Harbour View area of Suffolk on Monday.

The practice is owned and operated by Dr. Katherine Carson and specializes in root canals, endodontic retreatment, microsurgery, traumatic dental injuries and regenerative endodontics.

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry specializing in root canals. Root canals are the process of removing infected tissue from your teeth in order to get rid of toothaches and save your natural tooth.

Carson is a graduate of West Virginia University’s School of Dentistry, where she stayed to complete her general practice residency. Carson then joined the U.S. Navy as a dentist and completed her endodontic training at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School. She continued her work as a Navy endodontist until leaving for private practice.

Prior to opening her Suffolk practice, Carson worked for 11 years as an associate for an endodontic practice in Virginia Beach.

Carson is a native of Virginia and has been a resident of Suffolk for many years.
