Mary Susan Gomer Silcox, 64, passed away July 4, 2017, at Chesapeake General Hospital with her brothers and sisters by her side. She was born in Suffolk on Dec. 9, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Bob and Doris Gomer. Susan has reunited with her loving husband of 26 years, Fred Silcox, who passed away nine months ago.

Susan was a graduate of Suffolk High School and a childhood member of Oxford United Methodist Church. Following her marriage, she attended Deep Creek Baptist Church, where she enjoyed working with children. She loved children and was a much loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews as well as the young children she had kept in her home for working parents.

Susan is survived by her brothers, Lyndsey Gomer and wife, Carol, Scott Gomer and Paul Gomer; as well as her sisters, Debbie Gwaltney and husband, Richard, and Leigh Ann Graham and husband, Danny, all of Suffolk. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to thank the doctors at Chesapeake General for their care and compassion and extend their appreciation to Susan’s friend and neighbor, Denise, for all the kindness she has shown our sister.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk.
