UPDATED: Police have arrested Trenco Maurice Chapman, 28, of Suffolk, on charges of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Raymone Markee Carroll, also of Suffolk.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Earlier: Police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday evening.

The shooting was reported in the 200 block of Columbus Avenue at 8:36 p.m., according to a city press release.

The adult male victim suffered a gunshot wound and was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

An adult male suspect is in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the press release. No further information was available Thursday night.
