The City Life Church in Suffolk is inviting families from the church and the local community to an evening of fun and games on Saturday.

The church will hold “Fun B4 the 4th” at 2730 Bridge Road Saturday at 6 p.m. The Suffolk campus of this regional church will hold its Saturday service at 5 p.m. and begin the free festivities afterward for anyone in the community to attend.

“We know there are a lot of new families because of military, and because the Carrollton and Suffolk area is expanding so much,” said Suffolk City Life Church Pastor Justin White. “This is an opportunity to get to know us in a fun, friendly family atmosphere without the pressure of attending a service.”

Face painting will be offered, and inflatable obstacle courses will be ready for toddlers and small children. Neighbors will enjoy playing cornhole and other games.

Gourmet Burger Bistro of Portsmouth will have a food truck on the grounds with a delicious menu for sale.

More than 150 church members and community residents enjoyed the church’s July event last year, White said. As the congregation has swelled from 60 to about 100 members since then, the pastor is hoping for another great turnout this year.

“Just show up at 6 o’clock and have some fun, eat some food, and get to know some folks in the community,” he said.
