Anne Pruitt Everett

Anne Pruitt Everett, 75, of Suffolk, died quietly at home on June 10, 2017. She is survived by her son, Robert Ryland Everett Jr. and his wife, Lucinda Smith Everett, of Richmond; Bob Everett, lifelong friend and former husband, of Norfolk; and her sister, Sally Pruitt Thacker, of Augusta, Ga.

Anne grew up in Norfolk, attending Taylor, Blair and Maury High School. She attended Sweet Briar College and graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She earned her master’s degree from Old Dominion University and pursued a career in computer programming.

Anne had an enduring passion for gardening, which she shared regularly with friends throughout Suffolk, and led her to attain her Master Gardener certification. She was a member of numerous gardening clubs and societies.

Anne also had a deep interest in the arts, area history and higher education. She was active in the Suffolk chapter of the American Association of University Women; was historian of the Literary Club and Magazine Club; and was a member of the Nansemond-Suffolk Historical Society, the Day Lily Society, the Suffolk Art League, the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts, the Chrysler Museum, the Hermitage and Riddick’s Folly.

A memorial service will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Suffolk on Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m. A reception at the church will follow. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W Washington St., is servicing the family.
