Two displaced in fire

Two people were displaced and one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion after a blaze in the downtown area on Saturday afternoon.
The fire in the 600 block of Ashley Avenue was reported at 4:16 p.m., according to a city press release. The first units arrived on the scene at 4:22 p.m. and found moderate smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Crews found the fire in a back room of the home on the first floor, and it extended to the second floor.
The fire was marked under control at 4:36 p.m. The firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion and then transport to a local hospital.
The two occupants will receive assistance from the American Red Cross, according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
