NR tennis to compete for championship

Nansemond River High School’s girls’ tennis team will compete with itself for the singles and doubles championships.
Singles Semifinals:
- No. 1 Bonney (NR) def. No. 4 Vick (Menchville) 6-2 6-2
- No. 3 McCoy (NR) def. No. 2 Bostic (Kecoughtan) 2-6 6-2 6-2
Doubles Semifinals:
- Bonney/McCoy (NR) def. Roach/Samuel (NR) 6-4 6-1
- Ramey/Ramey (NR) def. No. 2 Bostic/King (K) 6-3 7-5
The championship singles and doubles matches will be played at Nansemond River on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. This will be the third consecutive year that Bonney and McCoy have played against each other for the conference singles title. The two will also team up for doubles as the reigning conference champions for the past two years, playing against their own teammates, the Ramey sisters Hannah and Lauren.
Fellow Lady Warriors competing against each other shows how successful the program has been and the quality of players on their roster.
