Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Ray and Barbara Ann Artis celebrated their 60th anniversary on Saturday with a lunch cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk with their children and grandchildren, followed by a night at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront in Virginia Beach.

The Artises were high school sweethearts and are from Greenville, N.C.

Their children are Vivian Williams (Terry), Cheryl Jordan (Ronald) and Sonya Johnson. Their grandchildren are Travis Williams (Dana), Brandon Williams, Tiffany, Alexis, Christy and Ronald Jordan and Courtney and Ashley Johnson. They also have two great-grandchildren.

He retired from General Foods, and she retired from Louis Obici Memorial Hospital as a nurse. They are members of East End Baptist Church and love the Lord as well as enjoying the company of their grandchildren, cooking, music and gardening.
