Harry Jackson Pettit III

Harry Jackson “Jack” Pettit III went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2017. He was the son of the late Ada Mary and Harry J. Pettit Jr.

Jack was a life member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Suffolk, where he served on the vestry and served the church and trustees as treasurer. He was a past member of the Suffolk School Board and was retired from VDOT, where he was the human resources manager. Shortly after high school, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and some of his favorite pastimes included fishing and hunting, and he still loved being outdoors.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Frances C. Pettit; son, H.J. Pettit IV and wife, Kim, of Carrsville; daughter, Beth Lunde and husband, Jim, of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Stephen and Sam Lunde; brother, Tom Pettit and wife, Connie, of Springfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 213 N. Main St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Keith Emerson. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., on Friday, May 19, 2017, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
