Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Shamond Smith, sophomore, King’s Fork High School track: Smith ran the 800-meter with a time of 1:58.44 in the Southeastern District meet. That is the fastest time in school history.
- Saleena Lynch, sophomore, Nansemond River High School soccer: Lynch scored two goals for the Lady Warriors in their 5-0 win over Bethel High School.
- Demonta Hawkins, sophomore, Lakeland High School baseball: Hawkins went 6-10 with five RBIs and six runs over Lakeland’s three wins in the week. He also got a win as pitcher.
