A woman and a 3-year-old boy were taken to hospitals following a single-vehicle crash on Portsmouth Boulevard Saturday morning.

The crash was reported at 11:15 a.m. Preliminary investigation found the Ford SUV was traveling in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard when it left the roadway and collided with trees.

The woman was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The boy was taken by ground ambulance to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters suffering from serious injuries.

Part of the roadway was closed following the accident until about 2:10 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
